We are looking for companies and artists who are interested in touring their work with us during our annual Puppet Animation Festival, 27 March– 17 April 2021.
Each Easter we present the Puppet Animation Festival, a programme of children’s puppet theatre, workshops and animated films for audiences, aged 3-12. All over Scotland – from the Highlands to the Borders, from the Hebrides to the Central Belt – participating companies present their work in a wide variety of venues, from city centre theatres, urban arts and community centres down to the smallest of remote rural village halls.
If you create productions or workshops for children using puppetry, object manipulation, or animated film, please get in touch with us, we would love to hear from you.
We are particularly interested in programming work which caters for Scotland’s diverse communities and children, and which encourages equality and environmental awareness.
To be considered for inclusion in the Puppet Animation Festival 2021, please fill in the application form, voluntary monitoring form and complete the application budget. Once complete, email your application to email@example.com
The closing date for applications is Monday 1 June 2020, 10.00 am. All applicants will be informed of decisions by w.c. 1 June 2020.
COVID-19: Because of the rapidly increasing spread of the coronavirus across the UK, after a great deal of thought and discussion, it was with much sadness that we cancelled our 2020 festival. Where possible, we are now working with participating venues and artists to reschedule cancelled events from autumn 2020 on.
While there is no clear indication yet as to when the current situation will improve – or what the future Scottish cultural landscape might look like after this significant disruption – we believe strongly that the best way we can support the Scottish puppetry community practically is by beginning our preparations for the Puppet Animation Festival 2021.
With this in mind, we will only accept new applications from Scottish-based artists and companies for the Puppet Animation Festival 2021. We will also only accept applications from those English companies who had already had their productions accepted for the 2020 festival and who may wish to resubmit them for the 2021 festival. We are not able to accept international applications for the 2021 festival.
Each year we usually select a programme of 25-30 puppetry productions, workshops and animated films. As we have already committed a number of the 2021 festival slots to companies selected for the 2020 festival, we will only accept 10-15 applications from this general call-out.
As a result of the current consistently evolving and changing situation, we will continue to adapt our responses and plans as required. At this time, we are confident that the Puppet Animation Festival 2021 will go ahead. We have opened our general call-out for work significantly sooner than in previous years to allow us and the artists, the venues and the organisations we work with annually, more time to prepare and plan with greater confidence.
This is a very challenging time for artists and companies, when living successfully from day to day is difficult enough, let alone thinking and planning for the future when everything is so uncertain. If you are accepted for the 2021 festival, we assure you that we will work even more closely than usual with you – as well as with our venues and organisation partners – to deliver the 2021 festival successfully. We always aim to create and maintain open and thorough lines of communications throughout the tour booking process and will always be only a phone call or an email away.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your application in more detail, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org A member of our team will get back in touch with you.
