Stick Man, an animated twig, lives with his Stick Lady Love and their children in the family tree. Out for his regular jog, Stick Man is picked up by a playful dog and launched on a series of unfortunate adventures that take him ever further away from home. The seasons pass, until Stick Man meets a surprising friend who might just be able to help him get back. But will he make it home in time for Christmas?
Based on the book by Julia Donaldson, and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, the film features an all star voice cast with Martin Freeman as Stick Man, Hugh Bonneville as Santa, Rob Brydon, Sally Hawkins, Jennifer Saunders and Russell Tovey.
“A Christmas story to appeal to the child in all of us” – The Telegraph
One fine day a cunning mouse goes for a walk in the woods. On his path he meets a fox, an owl and a snake each of whom, eager to eat the mouse, invites him to their homes for a meal. The mouse knows their game and tells them that he is on the way to have tea with his friend the Gruffalo, the most monstrous and frightening animal in the forest.
The fox, the owl and the snake each in turn run away. The mouse congratulates himself – everyone knows the Gruffalo doesn’t exist! Or, does he? Julia Donaldson’s charming story, with Axel Scheffler’s brilliant illustrations, is one of the most successful and most loved of children’s books ever and this Oscar-nominated version brings it vividly and triumphantly to life.
